TheDredged Material Management Facility Design Finds Success through WaterwayRestoration Partnership Framework

The DredgedMaterial Management Facility (DMMF) is a new structure along Lake Michigan thatis planned for the storage of 1.9 million cubic yards of impacted sedimentsdredged from within the Milwaukee Estuary Area of Concern (AOC). Management ofthe dredged material is key to achieving the goal of removing the BeneficialUse Impairments and eventually lead to the delisting of the AOC from the 1987designation by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). Thispresentation will focus on the background of the Area of Concern, design of theDredged Material Management Facility and the unique efforts to keep the publicinformed through the Waterway Restoration Partnership framework.
