ASCE Younger Members and Students from around the region joined forces with Regions 3, 6 and 7 governors and society leaders for the Central Region Younger Member Council (CRYMC) and Multi-Region Leadership Conference on February 3rd and 4th. The conference was hosted in downtown Minneapolis this year where networking opportunities included a curling event and brewery tours in addition to the daily program. The conference hosted a number of valuable presentations focusing on developing leadership skills including talks from both the President and President-Elect of ASCE. Small breakout sessions led attendees through guided discussions on a variety of topics with a focus on how to improve local section, branches, and younger member groups.
As in past years, awards are given out for groups and members. This year our very own YMG President, Tony Castle was named ASCE Central Region Outstanding Young Civil Engineer in the Private Sector. This award is given on the basis of outstanding engineering achievement. Consideration is given to the Engineer that has exhibited professional achievement and has made significant impact to the field of civil engineering.
